Ashtanga, the original vinyasa yoga flow, is an energizing practice that builds strength and flexibility in both the body and mind. Typically taught on an individual basis in the Mysore room, the practice can be tailored to each student.  Anyone can do Ashtanga yoga and the benefits are myriad.

When Didi joined a neighborhood Ashtanga yoga class, three weeks after her third child was born, she immediately recognized that Ashtanga was not like any yoga she had ever done before. After her first class, she found herself trying to get more yoga into her life. Despite the challenges of raising her family and her busy orthopaedic practice, she eventually started a daily practice under Kate O’Donnell. Once her kids were older, Didi started traveling to India to study Ashtanga yoga with the Jois family, and she is authorized to teach by Saraswathi. She even brought one of her daughters to India to practice yoga twice!  Didi has also studied extensively with David Swenson, Nancy Gilgoff, David Williams and Richard Freeman.

Didi has found the practice of ashtanga yoga to be transformative and empowering.  She has discovered that yoga is about finding one’s truth and living into it.  Her daily practice supports her life while she has adjusted her life to be able to practice daily.  She seeks to help her students find a yoga/life balance in order to reap the benefits that getting on the mat each day has to offer.  She also endeavors to help her students become all that they can be, not only on the mat, but in their lives.
